4.0 GHz ...
. , ""!?
EDIT: Dell:
"The GX240 IS socket 478. You can use the latest Northwood chips. It does NOT support the 533 bus speed. Only 400fsb. I believe a 2.6a with fsb of 400 should work..."
"I been given to understand that some of the difficulties in upgrading the Gx240 PC is based on the board version and not just the bios. Some boards allow you to go to 2.2 ghz, some to 2.6 ghz and the last production version will go to 2.8 ghz..."
"The highest I have seen Dell sell the GX240 was 2.4ghz. The highest Chip intel makes that it could support is 2.6ghz. Thats the last chip intel made with a 400mhz bus. I am not sure if the 2.6 will work because dell likes to stop supporting faster speeds so your "forced" to upgrade to a new machine. They do it in their BIOS updates. If you read the text about the a03 Bios it says "disabled unsupported processors" and Im not sure if that means celerons or fast p4's. Im going to try the 2.6 but I want the price to drop more. So if you buy the 2.6 and it works with the A05 BIOS PLEASE let the forum know. If not you must downgrade the BIOS to see which one they actually disabled it. ..
2.4 , 2.6...
2.8 ...
