    Staf,

It sounds like you are on to something with the power supply, There is a possibility that a few of the power caps have gotten weak or leaky and loose their charge when the system is powered off, Therefore when you power up the first time it will hang but if you cycle the power or reboot they have regained enough initial power back to keep the voltage threshhold stable enough for the system to continue to boot. If you can get a normal boot with just the usb mouse connected into the usb port, Then I would suspect either a problem with the power supply to the usb hub, (bad caps) or the power supply itself is getting weak. Or there is a slim chance that the other device that is connected to the usb port with the mouse has a problem that is causing it to consume most of the rated voltage available on the usb hub and when you add the load of the usb mouse it is just too much for it, causing a power drain that is affecting the rest of the system. If it will work ok on the ps2 port using the usb - ps2 adapter then I would use it on the ps2 port. I to have the optical logitec mouse and I have used it on both my ps2 port as well as my usb port, I found that it didn't perform any faster or better being on the usb port compared to the ps2 port. As a matter of fact I lost some funtionality on the usb port. Especially if I started in safe mode or was working in a dos based program it would not work at all but it does on the ps2 port without any problems. I have mine running on the ps2 port. Dan J
