"To anyone who has this problem and is using RealTek onboard audio :
First, make sure Hardware Audio is turned off in the game options (not those inside the game).
Next, open your BIOEngine.ini in your "My Documents\Bioware\Mass Effect\Config\" folder. (I'd also recommend making a backup of the file, just in case)
Under the "[ISACTAudio.ISACTAudioDevice]" line, find "MaxChannels=" and "TotalAvailableChannels=". If the value for MaxChannels isn't 64, change it to 64 and change TotalAvailableChannels to 62.
