, 30fps .Using Media Coder to create video/audio files for YouTube
Getting a video project on YouTube requires three steps.
1. Register for a YouTube account
2. Use a software program like MediaCoder to convert your video/audio files to the correct format for YouTube.
3. Upload your files using YouTubes website
To convert your video/audio file for use on YouTube, you must first understand what YouTubes specifications for the file must be. Knowing this information will allow you to make the highest quality file possible, and that information can be found on YouTubes website under Help.
* Specifications for a YouTube file
Recommended video/audio file specifications in general:
Video container: MPEG-4
Video codec: H.264
Audio codec: Mono, MP1 Layer 3 (commonly called MP3)
There are other file types, such as WMV, AVI and MPG, accepted by YouTube for uploading, ::but those will not be covered here.
Other specifications are:
Video size: 640 x 480
Maximum length: 10 minutes (using the single file uploader)
Video frames/sec: 30
Audio sample rate: 22050 Hz
Maximum file size: 100 MB (using the single file uploader)
Video data rate: 2000 kbits/sec
Audio data rate: 64 kbit/sec
Note: The data rates for both video and audio as well as the quality and length of your file will ::determine the final file size. The settings above are recommended for video/audio files under 6 ::minutes long. For longer video/audio files, see below.
* Quality of Video
Remember, YouTube will convert your video/audio file into Flash video/audio format. So, if you start with a poor quality compressed video/audio file, it will look even worse on YouTube. Always, try to start with the original or best file you can find, otherwise youll be disappointed.
* Creating a 6 minute or less video/audio file for YouTube
1. Drag and drop the file you wish to encode into MediaCoder. If desired, you may view the properties of the file by highlighting it and pressing F8.
2. At the top menu, click on File and click/select Revert All Settings and under "Item", click/select "Reset the state of all items".
3. Find and click on the Output tab. Here you can set the destination for the new file you will create.
4. Click on the Audio tab and make the following settings:
1. Make sure the Auto Select and Enable Audio boxes are checked.
2. Encoder: Lame MP3
3. Resample: 22050 Hz
4. Channel: Stereo
5. Gain: 0
6. Audio ID: 128
7. Rate Mode: CBR
8. Channel: Mono
9. Bit Rate/Quality: 64 kb/s
10. Algorithm Quality: Best Quality or 0
5. Click on the Video tab and make the following settings:
1. Make sure the Auto Select and Enable Video" boxes are checked.
2. Mode: Bitrate based
3. Enter in 2000 kb/s for the bitrate
4. Format: H.264
5. Container: MP4
6. Make sure that Source and Backend boxes are checked.
6. Click on the "Picture" tab.
1. Resize: Check the box and select 640 x 480
2. Both Global boxes should be checked.
3. Crop: Disabled
4. Frame Rate: Check the box and select 30.000
5. Aspect Ratio and Rotation: Unchecked
7. Review and verify your selections. If they are okay, then click on Start on the top menu.
* Video/Audio files that are more than 6 minutes long
Maximum YouTube bitrate / Your file duration (seconds) must be less than the total of Your files audio bitrate + Your files video bitrate
Example for an 8 minute video/audio file using YouTube specifications (as noted above):
YouTube's file limit = 100 Mbytes X 8 bit/byte = 800 mbits 800,000 kbits/sec / 480 seconds = 1,667 kbits/sec 1,667 kbits/sec 64 kbits/sec = 1603 kbits/sec left for video
So, the video data rate must be 1600 kbit/sec (enter in the box-Step 5c above)Btter to fight for something than live for nothing.
