New Prince of Persia planned
Ubisoft says a follow-up to the popular middle-eastern adventure is in the works.
As part of its earnings announcement today, publisher and developer Ubisoft said it is planning a sequel to its acclaimed adventure game, The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. "Today, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is a resounding success for our group," Said Ubisoft Chairman Yves Guillemot. A sequel to this hit is already being planned with an improved marketing positioning."
Guillemot did not divulge any other details about the Prince of Persia sequel--i.e. when it will be released or whether it will be for current or next generation consoles. Sands of Time was available on all platforms: PC, Xbox, GameCube, PlayStation, 2 and the Game Boy Advance. GameSpot will have more details on this emerging title as they become available.

Òîâà å îò èçäàíèÿòà Game Informer è OXM (ôåâðóàðñêèÿ áðîé):
"The enemies of Prince of Persia are regrouping and asking for a beat down once again. Ubisoft's Montreal Studio is working on a new Prince Game that will feature the same engine utilized in The Sands of Time".
It has been reported by Game Informer and the February issue of OXM.
À òîâà å îò IGN:
February 03, 2004 - Buried deep within its third quarter financial results, Ubisoft revealed that because of the strong success of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time across all platforms in various regions, it has already begun the development of a sequel. While no details other than that were discovered in the release, we did call Ubisoft ourselves for an additional comment. Unfortunately Ubisoft had no official statement regarding the announcement other than what was revealed in the financial results.
A strong contender for 2003 Game of the Year and the winner of several awards across multiple platforms by IGN and other publications, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was one of last season's most acclaimed pieces of software (and a personal favorite among several members of the IGN staff). You can bet your bottom rupee that we'll be back with more on Sands of Time 2 as soon it becomes available.
