    On-screen Num lock- .

    Windows 7
Right click on the desktop -> screen resolution -> advanced settings -> on-screen display.
You can change the setting from "show permanently" to "show for a few seconds".

To turn it off permanently, you can uncheck "Enable on-screen display" -> OK in the menu above, but it will also turn off on-screen display for volume and display.

    Windows XP
    Click Start, then Control Panel.
Double-click the Display icon, then the Settings tab.
Click Advanced, then the On-Screen Display tab.
Under "Indicator settings for NumLock and CapsLock", look for "While the numeric lock or caps lock is ON" and select "Show indicator for a few seconds".
Click Apply, then click OK, and then click OK to close the window.
