    I therefore decided to mutilate an Akasa pinned 1U heatsink to use for the base. This design has many pins and is a single copper cast unit. To this I milled the pins away in an X shaped pattern. The area in the centre was then given dimple holes in-between the pins to add more surface area & turbulence to what would be the coolant contact area above the CPU core.
