Anyway, by the time we write this, the payment/download glitch should be fixed and there will be more games and contact coming, so you are correct about the potential. As stated many times, we are laying the foundation right now and using the next couple months as a beta to work with you and other backers to refine and improve the experience in advance of the full retail launch in early 2021. This is just the beginning!
First it was split into two companies in 1984. Atari Games made arcade games. The Atari Corporation did everything else, had the brand rights and the game rights up until then (including the arcade games).

In 1999 Atari Games was bought by Midway Games and changed name to Midway Games West. It stopped making games in 2003, and was just a holding company for game rights. The game rights were sold to Time Warner in 2009. And the company dissolved in 2013.

In 1996 the Atari Corporation stopped making games, consoles and computers, and became a holding company for their game rights and brand. In 2001 Infogrames bought Hasbro Interactive, which owned the Atari Corporation at the time, and started releasing games under the Atari brand. In 2009 Infogrames changed their name to Atari SA, which is today´s Atari.

These are the highlights of what happened to Atari.
