Kad Network
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
The Kad Network is a completely decentralized file sharing network that does not make use of central servers. It implements the Kademlia P2P overlay protocol. Currently, two client programs use this network: eMule and mlDonkey (mlDonkey only has an optional ability to work with Kad network). aMule client has support for Kad on development versions, although there is no official release supporting it yet. The majority of users on the Kad network are also connected to servers on the eDonkey network, and Kad network clients typically query known nodes on the eDonkey network in order to find an initial node on the Kad network.
* Number of concurrent network users: 3.5 - 5.1 million
* Number of concurrent shared files on network: 500 million - 1 billion
