Delta Chrome, (nvidia ati)
S3 Delta Chrome- mobile, .
Although the core has yet to be independently tested, S3 believes it will generate a score of over 20,000 on the 3DMark2001 benchmark. Kwon said the core does not use tiling techniques; instead, it uses an advanced Z-culling technique to weed out polygons from the processing pipeline which would never be seen by the user at the "front" of the screen.
DeltaChrome is "fully DirectX 9.0-compliant," Kwon said. The core can support up to 8 pixel pipes, operating on a single texture, and using second-generation pixel and vertex shaders. Initially, both the core and the 128-bit DDR-I memory interface will run at 300-MHz, generating a 2.4 gigapixel fill rate and memory bandwidth of 11 Gbytes per second. DeltaChrome addresses up to 256 Mbytes of external DDR-I frame buffer memory, Kwon said.
DuoView
As it sounds, DeltaChrome supports dual displays via its DuoView technology. But what really separates it from all other graphics architectures is that it natively supports outputting to your HDTV thanks to its Hi-Def HDTV encoder. This gives S3 quite an edge over the competition: could you imagine outputting straight from your PC or laptop straight to your HDTV? With DeltaChrome, you can!
