"First, I would like to apologize on behalf of Lexmark for the problems your
product is exhibiting. At Lexmark, your satisfaction is our #1 priority,
and I would like to assure you that I will do whatever I can to make sure
that this is resolved quickly and efficiently for you. Thank you for your
patience and understanding while we help find an answer for you.

It seems there is a possibility of a problem with the printer itself, or
perhaps the cartridges. You should first self-test the printer. Since we
are unsure where the problem exists, we must do eliminative troubleshooting
to rule out parts of the printing system. The self-test allows us to rule
out software and the cable by testing the hardware by itself. Please note
that this is not a "fix," but rather a diagnostic test to determine if your
    hardware is at fault.

Please begin by disconnecting the power supply from the wall (not the back
of the printer) for at least "30 seconds." Then plug the printer back in.

Next, try this printer self-test by following the steps given below:

    1. Power the printer off.
    2. Press and hold the "Paper Feed" button.
    3. While still holding the "Paper Feed" button, press and release the
"Power" button. Continue holding the "Paper Feed" button.
    4. When the printer starts pulling paper, release the "Paper Feed" button.
It should print a test page at this point.
    5. Power the printer off, as this test is continuous.

The self-test should at least print out a set of either a solid black or
solid color bars, if not both (if you have a printer with both color and
    black installed simultaneously).

If the self-test prints, but has lines or smudges or other print quality
issues, I suggest that you please try cleaning the maintenance station as
it may have an excess build-up of ink.

The maintenance station is located inside the printer on the right hand
side. This is the same area where the cartridges sit when in the "idle"
position. To access the maintenance station: Unplug everything from the
back of your printer, open the front cover and look above the steel rod.
You should see a conveyor belt with rubber teeth on it, like a fanbelt. On
some models, the cartridge access will be very small, but the belt should
still be visible. Take the top part of the belt and move it gently to the
    right.

***Note*** please do not pull outwards on the belt. The cartridges should
come over towards the left side of the printer. The maintenance station
will be on the right side on the bottom of the printer behind the fixed
cover. Clean the area with several damp cotton swabs or damp papertowels
until the build up of ink is removed.

Once the maintenance station has been cleaned you should "wick" the
cartridges. Remove the cartridge from the printer. Get a clean damp paper
towel and lay it on a flat surface. Set the ink cartridge right side up,
with the ink nozzles touching the towel and hold in this position for about
15 seconds. Then wipe the nozzles across in one direction only (left to
right). Repeat this process, each time using a clean spot on the paper
towel, until it looks clean. Dab the cartridge on a dry towel to make sure
    that the ink is flowing.

After you have wicked the cartridges place them back into the printer,
securing them into place. Plug the power back into the printer. Close the
cover and click on "Old Cartridge Installed" on the "Solution Center"
screen. Once the printer has reset, run the "Clean To Fix Horizontal
Streaks" page twice. This should resolve the issue.

If this does not help the situation, please reply with the answers to the
following questions so that we can assist you further:

    1. When was the last time your printer printed everything solid and clean?
    2. Have you ever used a refill kit to fill the ink cartridges?
    3. Is this cartridge a Lexmark brand cartridge, or was it purchased from a
third party company as a remanufactured cartridge?
    4. On average, about how many pages per day do you print?
    5. What is the model number and serial number (on the backside) for this
    cartridge?

With regard to your second query, Lexmark guarantees the integrity of its
printers and of our responsibility for the repair or replacement of
defective parts for a period of 12-months from the original date of
    purchase.

However, this issue appears to be with the cartridges rather than the
    printer.

convenience and I will be happy to assist you. (If I am not available,
